Create a series of editorial spreads featuring Vivian Maier, and her street photography.
RESEARCH
After a deep dive through Vivian Maier’s body of work, several articles, and a documentary, my main takeaway was that Maier was a bit of a wild card. Those who knew her, didn’t know much about her. She was a nanny, hoarder, and stealthy street photographer with many secrets.
GOALS
Emphasize Maier’s “organized chaos” take on existence, as well has her peculiarity. Showcase her wide range of photographs, and connect the dots as to why she may have taken them, or focus on certain subjects.
THE SOLUTION
A collection of photographs admiring, exploring, exploiting, and experimenting with pieces of life. The good, the bad, and the bizarre as seen by Vivian Maier. Conceptual decisions were made to mirror Maier’s complex, humorous, confrontational, honest, and irregular perspective on life.
